On the scale of 1 to 10, what score would you give to
your office efficiency?
If your score is less than 7, then you should read this
post because these tips would help you enhance your efficiency. Well, even if
it’s more than 7, you can read this! There is always a room to improve the efficiency.
The post doesn’t describe about working religiously for
all day long, it is about how you can do less and achieve more. While working
at your office, keep in mind these few tips and you would certainly able to
improve it on a remarkable note!
No. 1: Don’t use
any random office chair
Working every day an average of eight hours is not a simple
thing, it costs you so much efforts and energy. And if you are not comfortable while
working, then it even worsens the scenario. Office comfort greatly includes the
impact of office furniture on you, especially the chair you are using. So don’t
buy any random chair to
use, it is great if you can have an ergonomic one. The reason is that
ergonomically-designed chairs give you great comfort and relaxed working
experience throughout the day. Plus, if you feel comfort and stress-free, then
the chances are high that your productivity will be increased automatically. In
addition, many studies show that a wrong chair can cause poor blood
circulation, stress, fatigue, various body pains and stiffing of joints. So it
is advisable to use a good-quality executive chair only.
No. 2: Make a list of first five tasks of the day
Every Monday, you can always note down all the jobs you
have on hands for the whole week and make a huge list which might scare you and
pressurize you. Instead of doing that, what you can do is prioritizing your
tasks and make a list of only the most important five tasks of the day. However
you have to exercise this activity every morning, it would not take your much
time. After listing down first five tasks, you can give a number to each in
order of its priority. This tip may sound simple but it really works. It is the
efficient habit to enhance your productivity at work.
No. 3: Don’t just sit on your chair,
but exercise!
If you sit continuously in more or less the same position
for more than an hour (actually an hour is more!), then it may cause strain in
your shoulders, neck and back. Plus, it may also cause stiffing of body joints
and several body aches. Research has shown that continuous sitting and decreased
physical efforts are the main cause of obesity in young professionals. So for
being healthy and fit, it is advisable to do normal exercises while you are
sitting on your office chair. These exercises
include stretching your legs, arms and upper body. You can also change your
sitting position every now and then. This would maintain the flow of blood in
your body, keep you fresh throughout the day and enhance your work efficiency instead
of making you lazy and slumped in your chair.
No. 4: Multitasking is not good for your efficiency
Do you think that if you do so many tasks at a time, you
would be able to finish all of them very well? Do you think that multitasking increases
your work efficacy? No, it doesn’t! On the contrary, it breaks your
concentration and division of your attention affects the performance of yours. It
also wastes your efforts and energy. In turn, you don’t end it up with
increased efficiency, but with the decreased productivity!
No. 5: Breaks are
necessary!
Without moving around much, spend the whole day (approximately
8 to 10 hours) on your office executive chair.
You would definitely feel out of energy very soon and feel lazy. So take
frequent breaks, they are necessary for your maintained blood circulation in
the body. And don’t worry, we are not at all suggesting you to take so many
breaks that you receive a memo from your HR.
Conclusion:
Efficiency does not mean the number of hours you spend at
your desk, but it means how well you can perform and give efficient outputs
without sacrificing your health. And it is not that tough, if you have smart
planning and focused efforts!
